Early Life & Education

Architect Kwame Ossei-Gyabaah Brobbey, affectionately known as OGEE, was born on 11 September 1947 in Sunyani, Ghana, to the late Opanin Kweku Adoma and the late Madam Abena Manu. He belonged to the distinguished Dominase family of Sunyani, descendants of the Royal Family of Techiman. As the fourth of ten children, he was raised with strong family values, humility, discipline, and a deep appreciation for his rich cultural heritage.

His educational journey began at Sunyani Government School before continuing to Techiman Secondary School, where he obtained his GCE Ordinary Level Certificate in 1968. He later attended Apam Secondary School, earning his GCE Advanced Level Certificate in 1970, before proceeding to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Architecture in 1975.

A Distinguished Professional Career

Following graduation, Architect Brobbey completed his National Service with Architectural and Engineering Services Limited in Takoradi in 1976. In 1979, he became a member of the Ghana Institute of Architects. He later practised architecture in Nigeria for seven years before moving to the United Kingdom, where he worked as a Senior Architect and became a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1990. He also obtained a Master of Science Degree in Business Management in 1992.

Returning to Ghana in 1994, he established BEC Architects, which later evolved into BOWS Consortium. Through these firms, he made remarkable contributions to Ghana’s architectural landscape, earning a reputation for professionalism, innovation, and excellence.

Architectural Legacy, Faith & Family

Over the course of his distinguished career, Architect Brobbey designed and supervised numerous landmark projects for public and private institutions, including Ramada Resort Accra Coco Beach, National Investment Bank offices across Ghana, the Reconstructive Plastic and Burns Unit at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Bechem Football Stadium, Eusbett Hotel Conference Centre, the Mission House of the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, and PIWC Sunyani Church Auditorium.

He was a devoted Christian and a committed member of The Church of Pentecost, worshipping at PIWC Atomic. He served faithfully through the Pentecost Men’s Ministry and contributed significantly to the planning and construction of church auditorium projects.

Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend. His life was marked by humility, wisdom, integrity, generosity, and a quiet commitment to excellence.

A Lasting Legacy

Architect Kwame Ossei-Gyabaah Brobbey peacefully departed this life on 26 January 2026 at the age of 78. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Gladys Aframa Sifah Brobbey, six children, seventeen grandchildren, siblings, extended family, colleagues, friends, and countless people whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, and remarkable legacy.
